Flyway

A stylised airliner flight simulator for phones. Fly real geography in a clean, readable art style, built to run on a handset rather than a gaming rig.

A flight sim you can actually play on a phone. Stylised rather than photoreal, because readability at phone size matters more than rivet counts, and because a stylised world ships.

Why Tauri

The game is React and Three.js inside a Tauri 2 shell, which means one codebase produces both the iOS and the Android app with a native Rust core underneath. For a solo build that is the difference between shipping on two platforms and shipping on one.

The awkward parts

Mobile is where a project like this gets expensive, and the costs are rarely in the gameplay.

The world data is far too large to sit inside the app download, so terrain ships as an install-time asset pack and the Android build has to be assembled as a bundle rather than a plain APK. Get that wrong and the game installs with no ground under it.

Both platforms have a floor on which OS versions they can target before the payment layer stops working, and the toolchain resets that floor every time the project is regenerated. Those are the details that eat a week and never appear in a design document.

Privacy

The app’s privacy policy lives at /flyway/privacy/. That is the URL to give the App Store and Google Play.
